In The Spotlight

Painting is mostly fun! However, as the collection of finished works mounts, the need to find happy homes with discerning buyers grows ever important. Given a website is essential, it also requires the artist to personally get in the spotlight - go public, invite criticism as well as plaudits, put one's self and ones's art in the public view.

Art Market 2017

We purchased a gazebo and visited the local markets to display artwork. Whilst most people were not looking to buy art at these markets, we received many flattering comments on my art and - in discussion - learnt a lot about what drew peoples' attention. It was a long, tiring day;  however, we persevered and did find some discerning buyers, prepared to pay a little more than the cost of a printed poster. It's all about "putting yourself out there...

Our Local Library

Our local library is free to all visitors and likes to encourage art in its many forms. I was given the opportunity to display selected artwork over a 6 week period. It created considerable interest, and a few sales. Most importantly, listening to comments from viewers, definitely encouraged me in my artisitic journey.

Another Market Showing

A winter showing at another market - a 4am start!!  We 'did the rounds' of local markets over the course of a year, with mixed results - lots of great compliments, but few sales. 🗬  this art business is a rough row to hoe!!  We need to rethink ...

That's me huddled against the early chill, paintings all set up, waiting for customers to arrive.

Our Local Arts & Crafts Museum

Our local Arts & Crafts Museum encourages display of local art talent and I was fortunate to be selected for this display opportunity. It was a static display, so unfortunately there was no 'face to face' contact with visitors. We did make a sale though (in absentia) - from a busload of Japanese tourists.

The Artist Tree Gallery

Mid year during May 2018, I exhibited paintings in the Artist Tree - an art gallery on Mt Taborine (a local well visited tourist destination).  It was quite successful, but due to the distance from home, I wasn't able to be in attendance very often, so I missed talking about my paintings with visitors. Regrettably, the Gallery is no longer in existence due to the owners wanting to use the building for other purposes - a sad blow to the many artists in varied mediums who displayed their work over many years.

Logan Artists Association Exhibition 2019

I had two paintings displayed in this exhibition, just after I retired from my lifelong career as an aged care nurse in July 2019.  They featured 'The Mystic' and 'The Mexican Flower Seller'. The latter painting was sold subsequent to this exhibition.

Our Artist Association -

Exhibition November 2020

The Logan Artists Association (of which I am a Member) has an annual Exhibition Day, featuring invited artists' works. This is from our 2020 event, showing my two entries: "Solitude" and "Beached". Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, viewing was by invitation only, so it was a much limited number of visitors.

Upcoming Events

  • August 2021 - Logan Artists Association Exhibition 2021
I have been invited to submit two paintings

  • September 2021 - December 2021
My art and my story as an artist will be featured in each monthly House & Garden magazine (and online) September through December issues.

I was contacted back in July (2021) by Home & Garden magazine, inviting me to participate in their artist section for a 4 month series.
I am proud to be featured in this world-class magazine, together with a select peer group of fellow artists.
With almost a million monthly subscribers it is an honour to become a visitor into their homes and onto their coffee tables.
This is the September edition feature.
